Recognize guaranteed-return promises, impersonation, fake support, phishing links and pressure tactics before taking action.
Guaranteed returns are a warning sign
Crypto prices can move sharply, and legitimate investments do not guarantee a high, risk-free return. Be cautious when someone promises fixed daily profit, says risk does not exist, or insists you must recruit others to earn.
Check who is contacting you
Scammers impersonate exchanges, wallet companies, public figures and customer support. Verify the domain from a trusted bookmark or official documentation rather than the link in a message. Do not give anyone your password, private key or recovery phrase.
Watch for urgency and secrecy
Phrases like “act in the next five minutes,” “keep this secret,” or “send more to unlock your withdrawal” are strong danger signals. Pause the transaction and independently verify the claim. Real support should not need control of your wallet.
Research beyond promotional posts
Look for transparent project documentation, identifiable responsible parties where applicable, independent reporting and clear explanations of how the project works. Audits and endorsements can be misrepresented and should not be treated as guarantees.
If you suspect fraud
Do not send additional funds to “recover” the first payment. Preserve transaction IDs and messages, report the incident to the relevant platform and local authorities where appropriate, and secure other accounts that may have been exposed. Recovery promises often target victims a second time.
